Addiction
Addiction deeply affects individuals, families, and communities. It can take many forms and is often linked to early emotional wounds. My family has experienced substance addiction firsthand: I lost my closest friend to fentanyl and my son to heroin. After my son’s death, I began studying the addiction cycle more closely, especially how triggers can take hold in a person’s life. I also became more aware of the opioid crisis across the United States. That awareness inspired me to take a motorcycle tour to the four corners of the country to help raise public awareness. With support from radio, newspaper, television, and a Harley-Davidson dealership, we launched the tour. We rode with the Tears From Heaven sign on the backs of our motorcycles, and everywhere we stopped, people asked about the signs and why we had taken on this mission.
The Tears from Heaven picture depicts someone grieving a loved one lost to drugs, comforted by that loved one’s tears falling from heaven. It reflects my real experience in the spirit realm.
These next two videos were created a few years before the USA Four Corners Motorcycle Tour. They share the real-life story of losing my best friend, Paul, and my son, Matthew.
Tears from Heaven
To give this work a clear focus, we created the Tears From Heaven Corporation. The corporation was formed to educate the public and raise awareness about the opioid crisis in the United States. Our first major effort was the USA Four Corners Motorcycle Tour, completed in June 2023. The website includes testimonies, help resources, photos, and motorcycle-related memorabilia.
This public charity, whose mission is described on our website, highlights both the work we have completed and the efforts still underway. The Southern California Motorcycle Association also presented me with a plaque recognizing my achievement in completing the tour.
After completing the Four Corners Motorcycle Tour, I wrote my fifth children’s book about Rupert, my Beanie Baby squirrel friend. Rupert was the hero of the first four books, and in this story, he traveled with us throughout the entire tour. You can find the book by searching for Lord Fritz III, my pen name.
